Extended learning provision

19 March 2020 (by Jason Wedge (jwedge))

Please find information below about extended learning provision

Dear Parent/Carer,

Following yesterday’s government press conference, it was shared that all schools have been instructed to close to all pupils, except for those pupils who have parents deemed as ‘key workers’, as well as pupils who are deemed to be ‘vulnerable’. Earlier this morning, parents were requested to contact the school if they felt that they qualified as a ‘key worker’. Firstly, thank you for all who have responded to this query as it has supported us in exploring the provision that will be in place for these children from Monday. Further correspondence will be sent to these families in due course.

In response to the school closure for the majority of pupils, staff have been developing extended learning projects that can be completed by your child(ren) during their time away from school. These projects will focus on a range of activities that have an allocation of points. Staff will also upload an English and Maths activity on a daily basis. All of the materials relevant to your child’s extended learning will be available via your child’s year group page on the school website.

We appreciate that parents working with children at home may have questions for staff. In order to provide parents with a means of communication with staff, parents can send an e-mail to a generic year group e-mail. This will be monitored by year group staff, who will respond between the hours of 8:45am and 3:20pm. Whilst I appreciate that parents may have queries beyond learning, please note that this correspondence method is only intended for the use of educational queries. Staff can be reached by composing an e-mail to the following addresses:

nur@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Nursery Parents)
rec@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Reception Parents)
year1@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 1 Parents)
year2@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 2 Parents)
year3@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 3 Parents)
year4@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 4 Parents)
year5@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 5 Parents)
year6@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk (Year 6 Parents)

For other queries, or should you need to direct a concern to a member of Senior Leadership, please use the following e-mail address: parent@meadow-view.walsall.sch.uk.

As we have no confirmation of the duration of the school closure process, we will continue to provide digital learning for pupils until the school reopens. Until that time, I would like to thank parents for their support during this unprecedented time. I wish you all well; stay safe, and I look forward to the time when are reunited as the Meadow View family.
